NWP Update – December 13, 2017
Good news: ALABAMA! And good news for NWP, too.
Marketing is a crucial aspect of any business, and we are absolutely thrilled to announce that Jacqueline Winspear, the fabulous author of the NYT bestselling Maisie Dobbs series, has joined us as Marketing Chair. Three cheers for Jackie!!
Marketing will be kicking into gear as soon as the budget is finished, and if you’re interested in helping on this very crucial committee (primarily as a social media soldier!), please post and tag me or another moderator!
We are in the final stages of budget work. Budgets are daunting things: we need to finish up one for the IRS and another one for projected publishing costs.
It’s important to note that NWP plans to publish physical books in addition to digital ones: we want to support and be supported by the network of independent stores both here and internationally.
Right now, the Publishing Committee–led by the indefatigable Ken Isaacson–is crunching numbers to determine what path to take: a program like Ingram/Sparks or the feasibility of traditional print-run publication.
The Board will make a decision in January as to what path we approve; at that point, the budget should be complete enough for us to start fundraising.
Many committees still need volunteer committee members! Please think about upgrading to an Active or Resistance Leader membership by joining a committee … we need people for the Art/Design committee, Technology, Copy and Proof Editors, Publication, Marketing, Membership and Communications … there’s plenty of work to do!
Our goal is to have at least one book on bookstore shelves by late next year … the beginning of what we hope to be a very long and successful publishing endeavor for Nasty Woman Press. Thanks for joining us and for being a part of the CREATIVE RESISTANCE!!
